Necklift

"Suture Plication of the Neck" is a procedure which results in a younger looking neck line and face without the costs, risk or time needed for a traditional facelift. The procedure is an outgrowth of an entirely new approach to traditional cosmetic surgery. This procedure requires less recovery time and less post operative discomfort, allowing patients to return to work and normal activities in much less time.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE

If you don't want a facelift and have excessive, sagging or laxity of neck muscles and skin. If you have a poorly defined jaw line. If you have lost your neck angle.

INTENDED RESULT

A more youthful and contoured neck and jaw lone. A tighter appearance to the neck skin is noted due to suctioning of the excess fat and muscle tightening.

PROCEDURE DESCRIPTION

The technique involves a small incision underneath the chin, through which the skin is undermined and excess fat in the triangle below the chin and jaw line is suctioned with a very thin liposuction cannula. Then, through half inch incisions inconspicuously placed in the creases behind each ear, a permanent nylon suture is drawn underneath the chin and platysma muscle situated on either side of the neck. Once the suture is anchored in place, this muscle is tightened and held in a more youthful position. Additionally, because the technique is performed below the jaw line, the odds of damaging facial nerves, always a risk with a face-lift, are much lower.

RECUPERATION AND HEALING

The patient goes home with head and neck wrapped in dressings, which are usually removed the next day.

Minimal initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication.

Sutures are removed within 7-14 days. Bruising and swelling decreases to "socially acceptable" levels in 10-20 days.

The final result is evident in 4-6 weeks or sooner with continued improvement for several months.
