Over twenty-seven years of experience have taught me that without the right skin preparation, it is almost impossible to get a good skin peel or skin rejuvenation result. Many doctor's peels are doomed from the start with a poor or improper skin preparation.

Most practitioners use a single stage (solution) preparation requiring a 3-5 minutes of work. At the O'Neil skin & Lipo Medical center, we use a 4 stage process that requires 25-30 minutes of skin preparation. Bacteria, dirt and oil are carefully removed, dead dry skin is removed, and finally the surface keratin layer is broken down to allow better and more even penetration of the rejuvenating solutions.

Without this sort of preparation, skin peeling or rejuvenation solutions may penetrate deeper in some areas causing uneven or discolored areas. Or the solution may not adequately penetrate to remove the wrinkles. Some doctors try to counteract this by using stronger, harsher, chemicals. This can lead to scarring of the skin, bleaching or permanent pigment removal, or waxy artificial skin.

Our 4-stage preparation progress at the O'Neil Skin & Lipo Medical center allows me to use a milder rejuvenating formula. Instead of painting it into the skin surface it is gently scrubbed into the skin. This is also more time consuming than a conventional skin peel (2 hours versus about 30 minutes) but the results are well worth the effort. Skin tone and color are more even and natural. And more new collagen and elastin fibers are produced rejuvenation. Deeper wrinkles are also more completely removed. Finally, the results also last longer. Many of our healthy non-smoking patients show little wrinkle return even 10 years after their O'Neil skin rejuvenation.

In summary, my method produces greater results in wrinkle removal and skin tightening than other non-surgical rejuvenating techniques (dermabrasion, laser peel or chemical peel). It also results in a finer quality of skin which is more natural in texture and tone. It is a safer, gentler way of removing wrinkles and it lasts longer. It is not the least expensive method for improving skin and wrinkles but simply the best.
