Restylane
What is Restylane?
Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane is the first cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin.
What is the procedure like?
The patient is first prepared with a topical anesthetic cream (30 minutes). Note: Restylane also contains an anesthetic mixed with it. The doctor then injects the Restylane into the chosen areas with a tiny needle and syringe. This will take 5-10 minutes.
What areas can be treated?
Dr. O’Neil uses Restylane in all areas of the face including temples, eye grooves, upper eyelids, cheeks, nasolabial folds, lips mouth commissures and jowls. Hands can also be treated.
Recovery?
Results are immediate. Some mild swelling occurs for a few hours. Occasionally, longer. Bruising is possible. Make-up may be applied immediately.
How long does it last?
Restylane lasts approximately 6 months with partial permanency due to new, natural tissue growth.
